HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

The Human Resources Department is responsible for matters of appointment, promotion, discipline and general welfare of Staff. The Department is headed by Mr Jimoh A. Folahanmi, a Director of the Admin. Cadre on GL 17. There are two Divisions in the Department, namely; Appointment, Promotion and Discipline and Training & Staff Welfare.

Appointment, Promotion and Discipline:

This Division of the Administration Department is charged with the following responsibilities:
i. Documentation of newly recruited officers by the Federal Civil Service Commission(FCSC)
ii. Documentation of newly deployed officers to the Ministry
iii. Issuance of posting instructions as approved by the Permanent Secretary
iv. Preparation of staff nominal roll
v. Raising of variation advice for yearly salary increase, promotion, advancement, upgrading of officers
vi. Up-grading of records of staff in the Ministry
vii. Conducting promotion exercise
viii. Defense of Manpower budget for creation of vacancy positions
ix. Handling of cases of discipline in the Ministry
x. Handling of the reinstatement of the disengaged officers
xi. Handling of Commissionaires
xii. Handling of salary variation of staff.

Training and Staff Welfare:

This Division is charged with the following functions:
i. Handling the National Health Insurance Scheme and processing of medical expenses of staff
ii. Processing of pension and gratuities of retired officers
iii. Processing Repartition Allowance
iv. Preparation of death benefit of officers
v. Organising sporting activities of the Ministry
vi. Preparation of Annual Training Proposal of staff
vii. Defense of training proposal with office of the Head Of Civil Service of the Federation
viii. Claims of allowances of staff
ix. Union Matters
x. Issuance of staff Identity Cards
