Defending African Taekwondo Champion in the female middleweight division, Uzoamaka Otuadinma, is set to defend and retain the African Games title which she won at the 2015 edition in Congo Brazzaville.
Otuadinma who stands at 6ft 1” made the disclosure at the handover of Team Nigeria to the Nigeria Olympic Committee by the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports.
Though she has been training intensively for the past six weeks, she noted that bringing back the belt won’t be an easy task.
“Only the current NTF President, Mrs. Margaret Binga, successfully defended her African title back-to-back in 1999 and 2003. No other Nigerian, male or female, has done so which shows you how difficult it is to retain the title. However, I am very motivated and ambitious to replicate this historic feat.”
Otuadinma beat her counterpart from Egypt in the 2015 edition in the golden point round to clinch the ticket and will once again face Egypt, Morocco and Cote D’Ivoire as she defends her title.Posted on
